Teachers

Four teachers, each with their own pace

Everyone here teaches regular weekly classes, so you'll see the same faces from one week to the next. You're welcome to try all four before you settle on a favourite.

Meet the teachers

Ava Bloom

Role
Founder and lead teacher

Ava started yoga to help a bad back and kept going because it made the rest of the day easier. She trained in London, taught in gyms and village halls for ten years, then opened Lotus so she could keep classes small. Her Sunrise Flow is steady and warming, with clear instructions and just enough challenge. She also teaches most of the private sessions.

Leo Hart

Role
Mobility teacher

Leo was a physiotherapist for twenty years before he started teaching yoga. His lunchtime classes are short and practical, built around the hips, backs and shoulders of people who sit down all day. Once a month he runs a longer Saturday workshop where he explains the why behind the movements.

Mina Vale

Role
Restorative teacher

Mina's classes are slow on purpose. She spends a long time on how to set up each shape with bolsters and blankets, then gives you time to stay in it. Before teaching she worked as a nurse, and she's especially good with students who are tired, stressed or recovering from illness.

Sam River

Role
Foundations teacher

Sam came to yoga late, in a beginners' class much like the ones he teaches now, so he remembers what it's like not to know where to put your feet. He explains things in plain language, uses props generously and leaves time for questions. If you're new to yoga, there's a good chance he'll be your first teacher here.

What students say about them

I'd tried three studios and felt lost in all of them. At Lotus, Sam noticed I was guarding my knee in the first ten minutes, and two years later I still go every Tuesday.

Restorative Evening is the only ninety minutes of my week when nobody needs anything from me.

Joe M.Restorative Evening

The 7am class is small enough that I'd feel bad skipping it, which is exactly what I needed.
